It's Clicking!!

It's Clicking!!  I don't know if it's Tyson or me, but his language really seems to be clicking in the past couple weeks.  Probably a combination of both.  I am starting to understand him more and he is starting to talk more and more.  I bet that since I am understanding him more he is getting more confident with his speech.  No matter the reason, I am really happy and excited about it!  He still uses a lot of baby language, but he can speak in sentences.  The other day he was really excited about the new clothes I had bought and was lining them up and playing with them.  Courtney wanted to play too.  At first Ty was a little annoyed, but we told him to share and he started piling the clothes around her and saying, "I share with you!".  It was the best!

Tyson LOVES Dora.  That might be an understatement.  Most of what he says is from Dora.  He likes to play Dora, all day long.  So if he is talking to you about hills, Benny's Barn, chocolate trees, and dog houses and the like, its all about Dora, all the time.  Although he did inform us the other day, "I like cookies.  I like puppies."  Yes, sweet boy you do.  This morning we were watching Dora and it was a Mother's Day episode.  I thought he would like it for the chocolate tree, which he did.  But at the end he turned to me and said, "Happy Mother's Day!" and gave me a big kiss.  Seriously, how sweet!  I'll have to remember that he gave me my Mother's Day gift in February!

Tyson has always been good with learning words, just not conversational words.  He has known his alphabet since before he was 2, he knows his colors, shapes, can count from 1-10 in English and Spanish, and knows lots of animal names.  He isn't into animal sounds though, he's never really picked up on that.

He understands quite well, but he doesn't always listen.  If he doesn't want to do it, you can count on a big tantrum or for him to ignore you.  But if I tell him it is a meal or snack time, he comes to the table to eat.  If we are playing and we need to get a stray toy, he will go get it for me.  If I'm cleaning up, he either doesn't care, gets mad, or says, "my toys!".  Heaven forbid they go back in the bins!!  He doesn't really answer questions and when he asks for things he usually pulls at you, but he did ask me for crackers using the word the other day and he has been saying "Mommy do" while we are playing.  He loves to sing, but usually makes me do the singing so he can do the dancing. He just wants to play, play, play.  Always has.  He is stubborn and determined, but I think that will serve him well in his life.  He's not a follower, he will carve his own path and fight for what he wants.  I love this little guy so much and I'm so glad that he is starting to open up a bit!  I just need to remember that he can talk, he just is going to do it in his own time.

Hmmm....maybe Heavenly Father has been trying to teach me something here.....  ;)
