Tyson is 6!!

I can't believe that Tyson is 6!!  6 is so big!  Since starting school last winter, Ty has made some great progress with development.  With Ty, its very hard to see broad changes day to day.  His development is a roller coaster - so one day he will do something super amazing, but that will often come with very low dips in development as well.  Some weeks he will do awesome with potty training, other weeks he will refuse to even go and sit on the potty when asked.  It can be hard to ride that roller coaster with him sometimes.  Its hard to try and shut down the "oh, he is talking so good today, here we go!, he's going to talk now" part of me.  Cause with Courtney, when she does something she can now do that and just build on it - so its hard to see some areas of his development be so up and down and not get too overly excited or hopeful when they are up.  That being said - looking back on the last year, he has made some major progress and is doing so well!  He speech has improved!  He now uses people's names and can use short sentences - longer sentences if he has visual supports.  He plays well by himself and is taking a much greater interest in playing with Courtney and his friends at school.  His turn taking and rigidity is much improved - even if he is a bit upset about it, he is able to work through it at participate how we are asking him to.  His ability to follow directions - even just verbal ones - is much improved.  In gym class one day they were playing red light green light and walking like animals and Ty was fully participating all on his own!  None of his teachers were helping him or even near him (they were all helping the other kids) and Ty was looking at and looking for Teacher Stephanie and following all of her directions!!  They got it on video for me and it was unreal to see!  So amazing!  Ty is getting much better at participating and taking turns with craft projects such as drawing, play doh, cutting and coloring - this has taken a lot of work!!  And then some stuff he just picks up easier.  He got a bike from my parents for his birthday and he went from me having to seriously hold him up the entire ride to now riding and gliding all by himself!  He has a great excitement and willingness to try new things - which I absolutely love.  Ty has a wonderful love for life and truly enjoys the simple joys of life - watching the snow fall, running around in the leaves and snow, going for a bike ride, going skating.  Whatever adventure it might be, Ty is always excited and willing to try.  Ty has a great love for all animals.  Ty is a sweet boy who is always happy and full of joy and laughter.  I love this sweet boy!  I can't believe that you are already 6!  I'm looking forward to seeing all that you will accomplish in the year ahead!
